The PULCHRA program in collaboration with APEITIO School of Agros have set as their main goal Circular Economy for the area of Pitsilia.
The first action is defined as the investigation as well as the reflection of the current situation in the mountainous villages of Pitsilia, regarding the household waste management.
The relevant information will be collected through a questionnaire which will be given out to all the students at the school.
Following this, the group of students participating in the program will record materials that end up as waste in the households. At the end of the program, comparison will be made in order to find out whether people’s daily habits and the way they reuse materials have changed.
The second action is to set up a “Reusable Product Store” within the school establishment. Items which will be for sale at the store will of course be related to school life (indicatively: books, school bags, clothing etc) and will be evaluated for their condition. The purpose of “The Shop” will be to promote the idea of reusing some products and realizing that the “best waste product is that which has never been produced’!
The third and final action is to create a recipe book. The recipes will include, amongst other things, main ingredients which would otherwise end up as waste. Our goal is to make people in the community aware and inform them of new possibilities concerning reducing the volume of organic waste.
