– acquire information on demand for energy (surveying students at home / at school/ in their closest vicinity and holding meetings with specialists);
– analyse environmental requirements, costs and power of different renewable energy sources in order to choose the best solutions.

On 21st December 2020, PULCHRA project participants met with stakeholders and representatives of the XIX LO im. Powstańców Warszawy community. The meeting was held online. Each project group presented the issues they have been working on for the last 2 months. Each presentation was followed by a discussion. Students and stakeholders were able to ask questions and, together, they discussed the possibilities of developing different types of renewable energy.
Afterwards, the students were invited to a lecture held by dr Magdalena Budziszewska (University of Warsaw) titled “The psychology of attitudes towards the climate crisis – from fear to action”. After the lecture, all participants had the opportunity find answers to questions that popped in their heads.

On the 21st of May 2021 a PULCHRA project meeting was held in XIX LO im Powstańców Warszawy (Warsaw Insurgents Secondary School). The project members, project stakeholders, and guests (teachers, parents, local citizens) took part in the meeting.
First, a group of students, using available sources, presented examples of energy efficient residential areas which have recently come into being in Poland and all over the world. The presentation strongly appealed to the audience. Questions were asked and opinions concerning the look and functioning of such housing estates were shared (presentation enclosed)
The presentation was followed by a lecture delivered by Ludomir Duda, a pioneer of sustainable housing/construction, the first prize winner in a contest – design of eco-school in Marki and the author of several patents. His lecture concerned the comparison of traditional and energy-saving construction in Poland. The lecturer also talked about his prize winning design. The lecture was greatly enjoyed and inspired a lot of questions.
Another speaker was a project stakeholder Artur Walczak who gave an interesting outline of the current energy policy in Poland and cooperation with European Union. He also explained the current problems of energy supply in Poland. The students asked many questions related to problems involved in implementing renewable energy sources. The issue of building a nuclear power station in Poland was also discussed.
Next, a group pf students who had been dealing with social aspects of sustainable housing estates gave a speech about their work on creating a research questionnaire with which, in near future, they will run a survey on using various means of transport and awareness of their influence on the environment. The meeting was finished with establishing the further steps of project work. Online education lasting from October 2020 to May 2021 made previously planned project activities considerably difficult and delayed. In June a UV radiation meter was bought. It will be used to carry out measurements on the school premises.
It was planned that since September 2021, daily UV radiation measurements will be carried out in order to decide whether (and to what extent) investing in solar panels on our school roof would be efficient. After data collecting, economic analysis will be done. Social research will also be continued – survey and the analysis of a questionnaire on using various means of transport and their influence on functioning of housing estates.
