Project description

The project aims to communicate to the community the services present in the city, as cycle paths, and to promote the use of bicycles or other zero-emission vehicles. Another aim is to promote community awareness on the importance of spring water and will analyze also local flora and fauna as natural resources as natural capital of our land.

January-February 2022: Students learn how to develop a WEB hypertext, useful to implement the LEAP approach selected for the city challenge. In the classroom we are now working on the creation of a WEB hypertext to promote the nature trail with historical, naturalistic and morphological information. Our plan is to prepare panels with QR codes, allowing access to the WEB hypertext tool using any mobile device connected to Internet.

Febrauary-March 2022: Field surveys in order to define best areas for natural values.

First step: February-March 2022: During the preliminary survey at Sella Sant’Agnese, the surface conditions of the 2 spring water sources, and the local flora and fauna and the morphology of the land was analysed. Geo-stationary photos and a survey of the local flora were taken.

Second step: Discussion of student’s ideas with stakeholders, as the Municipality of Gemona del Friuli.. Pick out the best ideas according to the stakeholders. Two are the main need highlits:

Project the system for cycle path monitoring. It consists of a camera equipped with an artificial intelligence SW to identify a bike, a database for data collection, a web interface for data visualization. This camera was programmed by the students to only count bicycles. Later, we did some passing tests to refine the camera’s recording settings.
Then we have undertaken to produce a database for the count of the passing bikes for the selected stretch of cycle path. With the help of the computer teacher, the program dedicated to the project was perfected and made functional and ready for use.
The future possibility of installing another camera in one or more points of the cycle path for greater accuracy in data collection and analysis is not excluded, always at the request of the Municipality.

Survey of the water springs, develop cards on flora and fauna of Sella S. Agnese showing the main botanical characteristics like scientific name, taxa, shape, etc. These cards were used to create a WEB site for the dissemination of natural value of that area.
