In this project we aim to survey the water quality of a nearby urban stream by taking a KIC sample using the Citizen Science CSSI Recording Sheet. By discovering which insects and species live in the stream we will be able to discover the level of the streams pollution. In addition we will review the streams connection to other rivers and streams to discover if it is a river ‘at risk’. We will use GSI maps to understand the underlying river/stream rock type and learn more about how this can influence the acidity and pollution of the stream. The exercise will help us learn more about integrated river management and the role of rivers as urban drainage and nature based solutions. Once we the investigation is completed an action plan will be made to see what can be done to improve water quality and integrated river management in our area.
