In this project we are investigating the microclimate of our school. We are looking at our environment and how we can shape it.
Our research question is:
Can we design one of our balconies to lower the peak air temperature?

City as a heat island
Temperatures in a city are usually higher than in the surrounding area.
The reason for this is the sealing: stones and concrete store heat in the short term. Water, on the other hand, stores heat/cold in the long term.

Our environment – where are heat islands, where are cold corridors?
Based on the presentation with Landsat data provided by the Geographical Institute, we have identified the cold corridors and heat islands of our school.
We plotted the heat islands and cold corridors of our environment on a base map to obtain a thematic map.
Redesign – what are some ways to lower the city temperature?
