Science Team works at our Secondary School to response to current challenges in Opoczno where the enormous air pollution is dited. Moreover, it is needed to find new innovative solutions connected with expanding urban green areas. The team started interaction with some stakeholders. As the result, it will definitely be the greatest way to ameliorate the quality of urban microclimate, public health, public space as well as social cohesion.
Among planned activities, there are:
- Fulfilling coverage maps showing current areas of green and urban space as well as maps of planned biodiversity land development with using an application Padlet
- Cosultations with local authorities
- Organising public service announcements promoting climate changes by Flash Mobs.
- Development of our school surrounding by preparing „Żeromski Hydrangea Corner” and „Ivy Underpinning Gardens”
- Green balconies for senior citizens.
- Arranging „parklets” in Żeromski Street
- Disposing various biotracks around the town
- Promoting project efforts in local newspapers and on the school website
- Student’s help in growing the kitchen gardens for housing communities in our town
- Creating so called „pocket-sized parks.”
- Far more sunny and ventilating trees in the central location.
- Fixing a green biking route around the Opoczno dam.

- Earthen plant pots with evergreen trees and shrubs at Piotrkowska Street
- Making a name of Opoczno with employment of small saplings received from Forest Inspectorate
In an initial phase, Science Team began with raising public awareness concerning redesigning urban spaces or creating new green areas to provide equal space for humans and nature. Using modern technologies, bright students of our school employed regional well-known heroes who lived in different historical periods to proclaim ecological issues. The film was presented as an educational material to each class during form time or science lessons.

In accordance with your recommendations, the whole Science Team was divided into three task groups: Explorers, Researchers and Reporters.Explorers work in order to find out as many information as it is possible to balance urban microclimate which is an integral part of caring for public health. Researchers organise and carry out various investigations to offer solutions to a wide range of environmental , climate and social setbacks. Simultaneously, reporters are resposible for popularising the results of the project.Explorers’ leaders are:
- Maja Świderska,
- Sara Jakubczyk,
