“Virgil Madgearu” Economic High-school

“Virgil Madgearu” Economic High-school is a secondary economic high-school attended by 1253 students who are organized in 3 types of education: daily courses, vocational  school and post secondary school. It answers the need for lifelong professional training of our local community as it is authorized for 6 qualifications in the field of services that are in demand on the labour market. Our school acquired acknowledgement and respect of local community for results its students obtained in graduation and trade certifying exams, for high social insertion degree of its graduates and for the projects run.

Our school is situated in the city of Galati, in a densely populated worker-inhabited area, lately considered at a disadvantage because of the ever-increasing rate of unemployment. 10 % of the students are in difficulty because of the following: they belong to mono-parental families, at least one of the parents works abroad, they live on the minimum wage, they have chronic diseases, they live in placement families, they belong to disadvantaged ethnic groups, divorced families with under-aged children given to one parent’s care, etc. 20 % of the students are settled in the rural area and commute every day because they cannot afford to live in the city.
